Tell the national inquiry - no to nuclear!

Peter Dutton wants to impose a toxic industry on communities across Australia that would delay the renewable transition – locking in climate impacts and tens of thousands of years of radioactive waste.

Dear Committee Members,
We urge you to recommend a ban on nuclear power in Australia for the following reasons:
  • Nuclear is dangerous. Nuclear waste remains radioactive for tens of thousands of years

  • Nuclear is slow We need to transition to renewables this decade – not extend fossil fuels for another twenty years while we wait for nuclear

  • Nuclear is expensive. It’s approximately twice as expensive as renewables

  • Nuclear is ageing. Countries like Germany are exiting nuclear

  • Nuclear makes us vulnerable. While renewables would give us a distributed and diverse energy system, nuclear energy could be a target in future conflicts
