Global Infrastructure Partners | Say NO to Scarborough Gas

Help us stand up to the corporations who are enabling climate destruction and causing irreversible damage to our environment.

Tell G.I.P. to abandon its stake in the Scarborough gas development and help keep fossil fuels in the ground.

Say No to 1.6bn tonnes of carbon pollution

By buying a stake in Woodside’s Scarborough development, G.I.P is signing a cheque for 1.6 billion tonnes of carbon emissions over the next 25 years. That’s more pollution than 15 dirty coal fired power stations.

Future generations are depending on us saying no to new fossil fuel developments and meeting Australia’s international obligations to drive down emissions.

Say No to desecration of Aboriginal heritage

The world’s oldest and largest art gallery is under threat. The thousands of ancient rock carvings on Murujuga – some of which are 40,000 years old – are already being melted and eroded by acid gas and acid rain from nearby heavy industry.

If G.I.P. gives Woodside the money it needs to build Scarborough, these globally significant and irreplaceable cultural treasures could be lost for good.

Murujuga is a sacred place for Australia’s First Nations people and its cultural heritage is worth far more than G.I.P is willing to pay to finance Scarborough.

Say No to destruction of pristine marine habitat

The Scarborough development involves blasting and dredging kilometers of seabed, driving giant concrete piles into the ocean floor and dumping millions of tons of crushed coral and rock within the Dampier Archipelago – the richest area of marine biodiversity in Western Australia.

This G.I.P. funded destruction of marine habitat is a catastrophe for native whales; dugongs; dolphins and turtles and will destroy one of the most valuable natural habitats for our many protected and endangered species.

Tell G.I.P. to Say NO to Scarborough Gas

GIP can still abandon funding Woodside’s Pluto 2 and Scarborough development. Let’s make it clear to GIP, Woodside is pushing ahead with the Scarborough offshore gas mine without the approvals needed for Scarborough to proceed, without the gas contracts needed to support it, and after repeated delays, cost blow outs, and job cuts.
