Keep Coke's Hands Off Our Recycling Refund Scheme:

Soon, Western Australians will have a 10c recycling refund scheme for drinks containers. Done properly, it will dramatically improve recycling rates and reduce rubbish in our environment, while creating sustainable new jobs in recycling industries.

But now, the McGowan Government is considering putting big beverage companies like Coca Cola in charge of the scheme - despite these companies opposing the scheme for years, and having a vested interest in minimising the 10c refunds they have to pay.

This means the beverage industry will create a scheme that is inconvenient for people like us to use, recycling the bare minimum amount of drinks containers. So that's fewer jobs, fewer recycled containers, and more rubbish to harm our wildlife and environment.

We're expecting the WA Government to make a decision soon. Ask them not to hand our recycling refund scheme to big beverage companies like Coca Cola, and to consider more suitable alternatives instead.
